Your choices for hardwood, stain and finish afford you a wide range of choices.  Here are some examples of floor types and finishes from which you can choose:

This floor is an example of one room finished with 2 1/4" X 3/4" red oak,
no stain, and semi-gloss polyurethane.

This is an example of a kitchen finished with 2 1/4" X 3/4" maple with natural stain.

This stain is a colonial maple with high gloss polyurethane
